Flood Damaged Cars!

Added on May 1, 2014

With the recent wild weather in Australia comes a very real concern when buying a used car. With the flooding in Queensland and Victoria, it is reported that 1000′s of cars were damaged. The frightening thing is, they are now making their way onto the used car market now that they have dried out.

To the layman it is really difficult to detect if a car has had water damage. The car may look and smell OK! The seller may have had the car interior/exterior steam cleaned and deodorised. Can you imagine buying a used flood damaged car that has had sewage swept through it. EEEWWW!!!!! Just imagine the damage water can do to the electronics and motor components. If the car has had sandy water through the engine, it will do all sorts of damage, maybe even blow a head gasket or the motor. The electricals may work initially, but long term, they will start to corrode. This will be very expensive and sometimes impossible to repair.

So if you are in the market for a used car, have the car inspected by a reputable company. Independent Vehicle Inspections (IVI) is a good one. They will inspect the car from head to toe and look for signs of water damage. And also do a V-Check just to make sure it isn’t a repairable write. Better still, call us and we will find you a car that has not imigrated from the wet states.

WHO WANTS TO DRIVE AROUND IN A CAR THAT WILL START TO SMELL OF A SINGLE MANS WASHING
